**This is giving a bit of an insight on how we made my Belle cosplay. I honestly wasn't as involved with this outfit for some reason. I'm just giving you what I remember!** | Simplicity Pattern 5006 A (Corset) and B (Skirt)Skirt.Corset |

Okay, so this was my first time dying fabric, and even though I started this costume back in August, I am now being rushed for time. I couldn't find the right fabric that I wanted to use. Believe me, I scoped out online fabrics. I scoped out fabric stores and I even tried Anna's Linens where I hoped to be in luck. Well, I came up with nothing. Honestly I almost gave up entirely, but my grandmother had luckily stopped me there! She gave me curtains that she wasn't going to use anymore and I thank her everyday for giving me those. Things you will need!!
Dying Process!! I used my bathtub for this dying process and since it was my first time I wanted to make sure I didn't screw up. I filled up the tub about halfway with hot water. THIS IS A MUST (Please read the bottle, I forgot to put salt in with my fabric;;')! This is the bottle of dye, I purchased mine at Hancock Fabrics for $3.99, but this goes a long way!! completely worth it!! You can also buy it here: Michaels. Now, depending on the amount of fabric depends on how much dye you need. Depending on what color you want depends on how much you add. I had a good 4lbs so I used half the bottle the first time, and it wasn't enough. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!! PLEASE WEAR GLOVES. I started without gloves and I am now stained blue!! I put the fabric in the water and make sure the water over takes it. I set the stove timer for 10 minutes, and every 10 minutes. After about an hour I take out the fabric and make sure it's the color that I want. Remember, fabric is always darker when wet so try to guesstimate on how the color will be lighter when the fabric is dry. I did just this, but I also opened my fabric and saw that the sheets were still white even after an hour. So I poured the rest of the bottle in and soaked the fabric for another 15 minutes. |
